Week 7: Habits

First off, see what I did with the title there? In my class, we read an outline for the book by Steven R Covey, The 7 Habits. What is interesting for me, is that I have already been reading this book in a different one of my classes. This book had been very influential in the success at many people's lives. It has been incorporated into many people's curriculums. For example, my elementary School was themed after this book. It was really interesting learning about the habits from a young age, but to be honest I was too young to truly grasp them. I feel that his book has strengthened a lot of my personal relationships. I think that this book has the power to change the lives of everyone. I am going to talk about my favorite of the 7 habits. I will explain why is my favorite of the 7 habits.

Habit 1: Be proactive. The reason that this is my favorite of the 7 Habits is because the principle of this habit is taking charge. This is the most important habit because this is how you start with all the remaining 6 habits. Being proactive means that we act, and not react.

This habit means that we are not waiting for things to happen, but we make them happen. All influential people in our lives have at least this habit down. I will say strait up that my generation has become very lazy. This is getting up and being productive in our relationships, careers, schooling, etc. This means that we are actively doing our best to do our part

This habit is my favorite because this is the start of all progress. In addiction recovery programs, step one is taking accountability. This is the step that will start the course for all our dreams to come true. What a good one to start on!
