W 13: Attitude of Gratitude
I had the opportunity this week to reflect a lot on some things I learned in one of my classes, and one of the main topics that we discussed was the fact that we have to have an attitude of gratitude. What comes with having an attitude of gratitude? What are the benefits, and what are the blessings? What happens when we do the opposite?
I remember reading an article that all of our feelings have a "vibration", or a "vibe" or feeling that they give off. In the article, it states that being appreciative is the highest feeling that one could feel, even higher than love. Why is that do you think? Well let's ask this, what do you feel when you think of the things you are grateful for? What feelings fill your heart? I don't know about you, but it makes me feel amazing. I am filled with love, appreciation, and positivity It makes me feel better about life, and can make me have a more positive outlook on life. The opposite is also true. When we think about everything that is wrong with our lives, and ways we were dealt a bad hand, we experience feelings of anger, depression, and hostility. We truly get more of what we focus on.
I once read a story of a holocaust survivor, and he stated that they could never take away one thing from him, and that thing was his mindset. They could never change the way that he thought or his attitude, and that is so true. We all should have this mindset. We can choose to have a more positive outlook on life, and to view things in a better light. Life is so much better that way, and when we do that, we don't only survive, we thrive!
