Week 9: Follow to Lead

In order to be a good leader, you must also be a good follower. But this is also a blanket statement. You can be a follower for anything, both good and bad. With this principle, you have to ask yourself what, or whom you should follow. I am not talking about followers on instagram, although many people do choose to follow the actual life style of various social media influencers. Who do I follow? Who should you follow?

The answer is the one who is the most famous one to ever walk this earth, Jesus Christ. My goal while I am on this earth is to be a better disciple of Him. Jesus Christ is the one who came, and not only played down his life so that we can find forgiveness for all of our sins, but he was the ultimate example for how we should live. He lived in a way that was a perfect template for all who strive to follow him to live. He was a friend, he loved everyone, he was a missionary, he was obedient, he was a hard worker, he was a teacher, he was assertive, he was faithful, and most of all, he showed perfect, pure love.

Becoming a disciple is a process. It takes time. We need to be patient with ourselves on this journey that we call life. As Gordon B. Hinkley said all we have to do is try a little harder, to be a little better, each and every day. It is up to us to do our duty and obey the Lord in any way we can. We can always ask ourselves the classic question: What would Jesus do? The spirit will guide us to be better. May we all deepen our conversion by intentionally becoming better disciples of Jesus Christ, the Lord.
